For anyone who follows this Podcast, you know that typically the season ends on June 30 and begins again on July 1. The reason I have followed this schedule in the past is that the appointments for United Methodist churches begins on July 1. In effect, I am re-appointed to the church (or appointed to another church) on July 1, and my appointment ends June 30. So it seemed logical that I would start and end each season from July 1 to June 30.
This year I decided to do something a little different, and I think it will work better. In years past we have had long Summer sermon series and the series would be divided across podcast seasons. This makes very little sense, for a series to start in say Season 6 and end in Season 7. It also makes tracking the seasons awkward. So instead, I am going to start basing the beginning and the end of the season around the season of Advent. The first Sunday in Advent will now be the first episode in the next season of the podcast. This way, all of the Lectionary year (A, B, or C) is within one single season. Otherwise, my seasons have been divided into Pentecost of one year, Advent, Epiphany, Lent, Easter, and Pentecost of the next year. This will make more logical sense, in that each season will be one Liturgical calendar year: Advent, Christmas, Epiphany, Lent, Easter, Pentecost. Easy peasy.
Maybe you don’t care. That’s OK. My AD/HD and OCD brain likes it and that’s really what matters.
So we will continue Season 13 until the end of the season of Pentecost. And since I have streamlined the process of posting episodes, I may go back and format and post some of the sermons I’ve missed throughout the year. Or maybe not. Again, it’s what makes my brain happy.
